FAQ
What if it rains?
Given the weather in the UK, every event has an alternative in the case of rain. Our welcome dinner "Fire Feast" is in the forest, but is under a covered tent with heated flooring. Umbrellas will be available across the property in case of rain and alternatives for activities will also be offered.
What can I do during free time?
There are a couple of answers to this question!
On the property there is a pool/hot tub, gym, tennis court, sauna, spa treatments, rowboats, and many walking/bike paths for exploring the nature reserve (roughly 8000 acres!).
If you wish to go off property (you can rent a car or call a taxi), you can explore the nearby towns of Yoxford, Saxmundham, or the coastal villages of Dunwich, Westleton, & Southwold.
What are these unusual attires?!
We know dress codes (and ours specifically) can be confusing, so here’s a quick guide:
Forest Festive: Think semi-formal but practical for a forest setting. Avoid unstable shoes or ones you mind getting a bit dirty (as we will be walking a decent distance), and bring a warm layer as Spring in Suffolk can be chilly. Velvets, patterns, knits, and your favorite coat!
Black Tie Creative: Here’s your chance to wear something unique! Feathered gloves, a funky tux, bold bow ties, and colorful gowns are all fair game. If this stresses you out, just stick with standard black tie-- bottom line is express yourself how you feel comfortable.
Garden Party: A dressy-casual brunch to prep for a day of fun. Think linens, florals, button-ups, and sunhats.
Please see the Pinterest links below for attire inspiration!
Feel free to reach out if you have questions.
How do we get around the property?
Most properties are accessible via walking or bike paths (bikes provided). If you're staying in a Sibton Green cottage, you'll have a car for access to the main house, or you can request a WR staff member drive you to and from your cottage.
What in the world is wild swimming?
Wild swimming, popular worldwide (though not in the US), involves swimming in natural bodies of water. We discovered it at Hampstead Heath swimming ponds and are excited that Wilderness Reserve (WR) offers this invigorating experience in the lake. After the swim, warm towels, robes, a bonfire, and hot drinks will await. For swimmers and non-swimmers alike, there will be lounging, drinks, and pizza to enjoy as we wrap up our wedding celebrations.
Will there be vegetarian or vegan options at every meal?
Yes, while our wedding dinner is served (and thus we ask for dietary preferences ahead of time), our welcome dinner is family style and our brunch is buffet style, both with vegan and vegetarian options.
